TL;DR
TMJ dysfunction — jaw clicking, locking, bruxism, and TMJ-referred tension headaches — is one of the most underdiagnosed pain syndromes in Bengaluru IT workers. Pro Physiotherapy runs a dedicated TMJ jaw-pain clinic in JP Nagar 8th Phase led by MPT-qualified physiotherapists trained in La Touche cervico-mandibular manual therapy and Rocabado 6×6 protocol. 8-12 session programme reduces pain VAS by 60-70% (Armijo-Olivo Physical Therapy 2016). Sessions ₹549 (clinic) / ₹799 (home) · GST + ICD-10 receipt for insurance.
What TMJ Jaw-Pain Physiotherapy Actually Involves
TMJ dysfunction is rarely just a dental problem. In our JP Nagar practice, 8 out of 10 TMJ cases have a cervico-mandibular driver — the upper-cervical spine (C0-C3) and jaw share overlapping trigeminal innervation, which is why forward-head posture from long IT desk hours triggers jaw clicking, ear fullness, and vice-like temple headaches. Our assessment covers Fonseca Anamnestic Index, jaw-range-of-motion, joint palpation, cervical-spine screening, and tension-headache mapping in a 45-minute session.
Treatment is hands-on and evidence-based. Every session combines intra-oral and extra-oral myofascial release of masseter, temporalis, medial pterygoid and lateral pterygoid, Maitland upper-cervical mobilisation (C0-C1, C1-C2), Rocabado 6×6 postural exercises, and motor-control retraining for the deep neck flexors. A written night-guard-adherence and stress-reduction plan is provided for bruxism patients. Typical improvement: 50% pain reduction by session 4, 70% by session 8.

“My mother recently underwent bilateral total knee replacement surgery, and post-operative physiotherapy was crucial to her recovery. Based on our neighbours' recommendation, we chose Pro Physiotherapy Clinic and Dr Iram (PT) for home physiotherapy, and we are very happy with our decision. Dr Majumdar (PT) facilitated our initial enquiry and addressed our requirements professionally. Over 45 days, my mother completed around 45 sessions. Dr Iram was professional, punctual, and dedicated throughout. Despite the challenging and painful recovery process, her structured approach and encouragement helped my mother make steady progress. We also greatly appreciate the prompt support in arranging all the bills and documentation required for our insurance claim, which made the process smooth and hassle-free.”

“I had a great experience here treating my upper back pain. I took a 10-session package and was attended to by Dr Sara. She is highly professional, listens carefully, and conducts a thorough examination before starting treatment. My daily sessions consisted of IFT and specific exercises, along with dry needling therapy. The combination of IFT and dry needling was incredibly effective and truly helped me recover. Huge thanks to Dr Sara and the team!”

Yes. Bruxism is one of our top-5 TMJ referrals. Treatment combines masseter and temporalis myofascial release, deep-neck-flexor motor-control retraining, stress-reduction coaching, and coordination with your dentist for a well-fitting occlusal splint if indicated. 6-8 sessions typical.
What causes clicking or locking of the jaw?
Clicking is usually an anterior disc displacement with reduction — the disc slips forward on opening and snaps back on closing. Locking is disc displacement without reduction. Both respond to manual therapy + guided range-of-motion + posture correction. Rarely, refractory locking needs arthrocentesis by an oral surgeon.
Can TMJ physiotherapy cure tension headaches?
When headaches are TMJ-driven or cervico-mandibular in origin — yes. A 2011 Manual Therapy trial (La Touche) demonstrated significant tension-headache reduction with combined jaw + upper-cervical manual therapy. We map your headache triggers and pain distribution in Session 1 to confirm TMJ involvement before starting.
How many sessions do I need?
Typical protocol: 8-12 sessions across 4-6 weeks. Simple clicking without pain: 4-6 sessions. Chronic bruxism with tension headaches: 12-16 sessions. Reassessment every 4 sessions with Jaw Functional Limitation Scale (JFLS-20) and Fonseca Index.
Do you offer home visits for TMJ care?
Yes. Home visits are ₹799 flat and are especially useful for the first assessment because we can film your workstation posture and jaw-clenching triggers in your real environment. Follow-up sessions can be in-clinic (₹549) for cost efficiency.
